Who are VTubers?
VTubers (Virtual YouTubers) are entertainers who stream or upload as an animated character instead of a webcam face. The public brand is the avatar—usually Live2D, sometimes 3D, PNG frames, or an AI-fronted persona— driven by face or body tracking into OBS, then Twitch or YouTube. The person behind the mic stays optional on camera. For the full definition, see what a VTuber is.
The scene spans Japanese agencies such as Hololive, huge Western indies on Twitch, Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking creators, and breakout AI projects. This BeTuber page is a ranking and wiki-style directory of those public personas—not a shop of downloadable files.
Who are the best VTubers in the world?
“Best” depends on what you measure. By subscribers and followers, names like Gawr Gura, Usada Pekora, Filian, and Ironmouse sit near the top of global discovery. By lifetime views, long-running YouTube catalogs dominate. By fresh debuts, the Recently added sort surfaces new characters people are searching this month.
Use the tabs above—recently added, most followers, most viewed—to explore those angles. Each profile answers the questions fans actually type: years active, tech stack, follower scale, face-reveal status, and whether income figures are public (usually not). Counts on the list are approximate snapshots for ranking, not live API meters.
How can I become a VTuber?
You cannot wear someone else’s Hololive or indie rig from this directory. You can debut with a character you own the commercial rights to. Typical path: pick Live2D, 3D, or PNG; commission or generate art; rig and track it; encode with OBS; go live without waiting for an agency. Step-by-step sits in how to become a VTuber. Matching apps such as VTube Studio and VSeeFace are covered in BeTuber’s software guides.
On BeTuber you can generate a free starting avatar in the studio, then keep customizing and streaming. Looking for usable model files instead of famous talents? Use the usable VTuber models catalog—separate from this ranking.
Agency VTubers vs indie VTubers
Agency talents (Hololive and similar) often stream company IP with debut marketing and 3D concerts. Indie VTubers commission or buy their own avatar and keep (or should keep) the streaming license. Both appear in this ranking because searchers compare them side by side. AI-led acts such as Neuro-sama are a third lane—avatar on screen, generated performance layer behind it.
Can I add a VTuber to this ranking?
Yes. Use + Add new VTuber above to submit a public persona for review (name, official links, basics). Pages stay unpublished until BeTuber checks them—we index channels and wiki facts; we do not host copyrighted mesh files.
